Nikita Fyoderovich Baliev –his Armenian name Mgrdich Asdvadzadoor Balyan—was the creative and artistic director of the famous Moscow cabaret “the Bat” (1908-1920). After the Russian Revolution, he moved to Paris and created new shows. He later took his theatre group to South America, Hollywood and New York. He died of a fatal stroke in a New York taxi in 1936. He was born in Erzurum in 1877.
