Apostle Matthew’s Grave

The grave of Apostle Matthew is in the Armenian monastery of Issyk-Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan, says Russian archeologist Vladimir Ploskikh. According to legend, the apostle died on his way to Greece after founding several Christian communities en route. An old document in Venice says there is an Armenian monastery in a place called Issyk-Kul and it is there that Apostle Matthew is buried.
