Armenian settlement in Tunceli (Dersim)

A 3,000-year-old Armenian settlement was found in 2015 in Tunceli (Dersim). It’s the largest one discovered in that province. Dersim was part of the Armenian kingdom of Sophene (Dzopk). The settlement, near the Rabat hamlet, is a citadel-like settlement containing items from the early Iron Age (iron dross, ceramics, weight objects). The settlement, which is wider than three football fields, also has Armenian texts inscribed on stone.
