“Bad Boy” of Russian Pop Music

Philipp Bedrosovich Kirkorov is a Russian singer of Armenian-Bulgarian origin. His father was an Armenian singer. Kirkorov, born in Varna, Bulgaria in 1967, won “Music Video of the Year” award in 1992 and “Best Singer in Russia” honor in 1993. In 2007 he wrote the Belorussian entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. The 6’ 6” singer is considered the “bad boy” of Russian pop scene for his tempestuous character and rude behavior towards journalists.
