Wilfert Hosts Workshop on How to Become a Canadian Citizen
November 22, 2009
(Richmond Hill) – The Honourable Bryon Wilfert, MP, Richmond Hill, hosted a forum on "How to Become a Canadian Citizen" with guest speaker, Mr. Sarkis Assadourian (former Member of Parliament and former Citizen Court Judge) providing a very informative presentation on how the process to become a citizen works.
"This type of public outreach is very important to me, as it benefits those constituents who are interested in the application process and judging by the great attendance, it is a topic that has a lot of interest to residents of Richmond Hill." Wilfert stated.
Assadourian’s experience both as an MP and Citizenship Court Judge provided a significant practical approach to ensuring the process is understandable and helpful.
"Along with their citizenship, Canadians have many rights and responsibilities. … with their privileges, I usually like to encourage new citizens to become involved and contribute to the community as part of their new responsibilities,” noted Wilfert.
