Datev

The monastery complex at Datev is 316 kilometers from Yerevan, in the district of Syunik (Zankezur). Founded in the 9th century on the site of an ancient sanctuary, it became the residence of the Syunik metropolitan and was considered one of the principal spiritual, political and cultural centers of medieval Armenia. The principal and the oldest buildings in the complex are the Church of St. Paul and Peter, built  in 895-906.
