Three years ago, on 1 March 2008, Armenia’s ruling regime committed a great crime against its own people as it opened fire upon them, as a result of which ten citizens were killed and hundreds were wounded. The victims were simply exercising their constitutional rights and peacefully fighting for justice; a few were mere passersby.

Three years ago, on 1 March 2008, Armenia’s ruling regime committed a great crime against its own people as it opened fire upon them, as a result of which ten citizens were killed and hundreds were wounded. The victims were simply exercising their constitutional rights and peacefully fighting for justice; a few were mere passersby.
The Heritage Party hereby demands that all of the organizers and executors of this national tragedy be brought to full justice.
We also share the sorrow of the families of our compatriots who fell on that day and wish to comfort their members with the conviction that the martyrdom of their sons, brothers, and fathers was not in vain. At the cost of their lives they fundamentally transformed Armenia’s civil society, and came to symbolize the fortitude of the people’s faith in their own empowerment in the name of liberty and dignity. By their sacrifice they turned March 1 into a watershed beyond which nothing and no one can any longer suppress the Armenian body politic.
Heritage, which has consistently stood alongside the people, including on 1 March 2008, today underscores its solidarity with our fellow citizens who continue to wage their struggle—in Yerevan and throughout the country, on the street and in their daily lives—for the triumphant truth, for the future of our Homeland, and for the collective and legitimate mastery of our basic rights.
