Between the 17th century and the demise of the Romanovs, there were at least 22 Armenian generals in the Russian army. Among them were Abamelek, Agazar di Khachig, Argutinsky-Dolgoruky, Bebutov, Kamsarakan, Lazarev, Loris-Melikov, Madatov, Nazarbekov, Silikov, Serbriahob, Shelkovnikov.
