A dangerous pattern is emerging in the Caucasus with new reports that Israel is continuing to sell advanced military armaments to Azerbaijan, costing hundreds of millions of dollars, said Jirair Haratunian, former Chairman of the Armenian Assembly of America Board of Directors, in a column entitled "Dangerous Endorsement: More Israeli Military Arms sold to Azeris as Jewish lobby backs Azerbaijan," the Assembly told PanARMENIAN.Net.

The commentary continues, “These military sales are an incendiary fuse in a volatile South Caucasus where a startled world just witnessed a short bloody war between Russia and Georgia and where Moscow’s recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia has altered the geopolitical landscape in the region, perhaps permanently.
Ironically, Israelis who condemn Iran and Syria for arming Hamas and Hezbullah have now become serious arms merchants selling an array of offensive weapons to Azerbaijan. They sell these arms at a time when Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, has repeatedly threatened to recapture Nagorno Karabakh by military force. Moreover, there are more than military sales binding Israel to Azerbaijan these days. On October 2, an Azeri journal, DAY AZ, published an interview with Joseph Shagal, a deputy in the Israeli Knesset and chairman of the Israel-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Group, who said, "Both economic associations and military alliances are possible with such a partner as Azerbaijan." Shagal asserted that arms sales by Israel are strictly controlled by the government. He then added, "Israel will never supply arms to a country if this can affect the security of neighboring states." This man has apparently been deaf to Aliyev’s many bellicose threats to reignite war with Nagorno Karabakh.
As these developments have become public, one obvious question arises: Has the Bush Administration been complicit in these Israeli arms sales or just acquiescent? In either case, the result is the same. Admittedly the U.S. has issued tepid cautions against the use of force in the Caucasus, but these have not worked. Proof is the failed Georgian military episode in South Ossetia that upset regional stability and created fears of a new Cold War. What is required now is a resolute and unambiguous declaration that the United States opposes any new arms race in the Caucasus region and will oppose the use of force in unresolved conflicts. However, neither Vice President Richard Cheney nor Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte made such a statement during their back-to-back visits to Baku in September.
Unfortunately, Israel’s growing economic ties and military support of Azerbaijan have now been followed by promises from the American Jewish Committee (AJC) to lobby for Azerbaijan. This commitment was announced in Baku by David Harris, AJC’s Chairman, who visited there at the invitation of Azeri President Ilhan Aliyev. With unashamed praise for upholding religious freedom, Harris said: "Religious tolerance in Azerbaijan is a model for the entire world." Harris is either unaware or callous about Azerbaijan’s murderous pogroms of Armenians in Sumgait and Baku during the days when the Soviet Union was in the process of imploding. And he is apparently ignorant about the more recent cultural felony committed in Julfa by Azerbaijan’s military in which they destroyed hundreds of Khachkars, intricately-carved tombstones, in an Armenian cemetery that dates back to medieval times.
Harris went further. He said, "The AJC has long appreciated the importance of Azerbaijan as a true friend of the United States and Israel." He told reporters that he had discussed the Nagorno Karabakh issue at length and, in particular, the negotiating role of the OSCE’s Minsk Group. He promised to urge the United States to pay more attention "to improve the OSCE Minsk Group’s mission." In light of Harris’s unabashed bias towards Baku, this promise will have to be carefully monitored. Finally, Harris paid tribute to his hosts with these words, "We have valued this opportunity to learn more about this strong ally in a challenging and critical region. We look forward to sharing our views about Azerbaijan’s key role when we return to the United States."
Thus, we witness a disturbing combination of arms sales to Azerbaijan, possible military ties with Israel, and vocal support for Baku by AJC, one of the largest and most influential Jewish advocacy groups in America. These developments are scarcely known or understood by the rank and file of the Jewish community. They are unaware of the way in which the intrusion of Israel and the AJC into the volatile region of the Caucasus heightens the possibility of war. They don’t realize that only a fragile ceasefire line separates Azeri and Armenian military forces and that arming and encouraging a saber rattling leader in Azerbaijan only fuels the possibility of a new war.”

You may love Israel and the Jews , at the end of the day you are a Muslim nation and Jews hate Muslims , supplying Azerbaijan with weapons is not for pleasure or friendship, it is for Israel’s profit after all.
I LOVE YOU ISRAEL !!!
I LOVE YOU ISRAEL !!! AZERBAIJAN AND ISRAEL BROTHER !!!

Azeri-Israeli Romance…Azeri Oil for Israeli Weapons
Armenians have been mentioned in Akkadian inscriptions (Naram-Sin) as early as 2,500 B.C. And Armenians have remained on their land, despite constant invasions, most recently by the Turks and the Russians. We have seen empires (Assyrian, Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Memeluke, Persian) come and go. We are still here. We shall stay here and continue the struggle to regain Western Armenia, now occupied by Turkey, in addition to Occupied Nakhichevan and the rest of Artsakh.
I understand Aliev is spending some of his petrodollars to launch a campaign "proving" that Azeris have been in the so-called Azerbaijan since Adam and Eve were teenagers. If you have the money, you buy the ‘history’ professor and the ‘history’ books you want. Good luck to you as you continue to hallucinate, just as Mustafa Kemal did when he rewrote not just the history of Turks but also the history of mankind, claiming that all humanity descends from….(take a guess!) the Turks. But we forgive the demented guy: he liked his raki too well. Azeri history books, just like Turkish history books belong in the fiction section of libraries. Azeris are separatist Iranians. A flag doesn’t make a state or a people.
Now go and stuff your face with garlick-studded dolma, and don’t pollute this site with your rants and ravings. "I Love Azerbaijan!" Can’t you do better than that? Pitiful.
Armenia is a puppet-state of
Armenia is a puppet-state of Russia and constantly donates free weapons to Armenia and aided during the Karabakh war on the Armenian side against Azerbaijan, but when Azerbaijan buys Israeli weapons all Armenians suddenly act innocent.
Azerbaijan and Israel have all rights to have good relations
By the way, Armenians also could have been successful in much richer Azerbaijan if they had not followed their stupid nationalistic ideas to seperate Nagorniy Karabakh from Azerbaijan and unite it with Armenia.
Nationalism plays into the hands of only a handfull of Armenians and also supports Moscow’s imperialisitic ambitions.
You need to study history
Turkish/Azeri contribution to history:
– Stealing other people’s culture
– Genocide of several nations (Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, etc.)
– Destruction
– Killings
– Stealing
– Rape
…and more
I am shocked at your comment
Sooner or later those two will clash. Do you really think Israel will ever trust Muslim Azerbaijan? By the way did you miss the Turkish Israeli conflict over Gaza’s Palestinians?

Azeri-Israeli Romance
Once in a blue moon when the United States administration made an impartial statement about the Arab-Israeli conflict, Israel and its busy-bee lobbyist on this side of the Atlantic would wail that America was selling Jewish blood for Arab oil.
Now that Israel is selling arms and providing military training, in addition to electronic espionage facilities to the Azeris, no one is moaning that Israel is trading Armenian blood for Azeri oil. I guess "Romancing The Petrol–Israeli Style" is kosher when the beneficiary is the Zionist entity.
Israeli Arms
According to latest news from Azerbaijan each time that their king makes warlike statements lots of young Azeris run away from Azerbaijan to other CIS countries. In the last war most of front soldiers were minorities of Azerbaijan….Why should they sacrifice their lives for a despot?
Buying weapons from Israel
Buying weapons doesn’t mean we can be good friends with Israel. They hate muslims. They just sell arms. They had wars with muslims in 1948 (War of independence), 1956 (The Sinai war), 1967 (The six day war) and in 1973 Yom Kippur war.
We didn’t lose the war in 1990-1993, we just didn’t have an army.
Armenian terrorist groups came to Azerbaijan and killed a lot of people. Now nearly every month Armenian soldiers run away from their bases and cross the border to Azerbaijan to go to third countries. OPEN YOUR EYES Armenians.
The Azerbaijani army is more powerful than the Armenian now. We are coming.
Armenians, I don’t want you to give us Karabagh. I want to have a war. We will walk over Armenians in the war. I will go to war as well as other young Azerbaijanis. You have only 6 aircraft, and we will eat all of you like a hungry wolf.
The Azerbaijani army and economy are getting better every day, but you are going down every second. We are coming.
Dig your graves to put yourselves there, when you die.
Javidan efendi
Wow….here is an Azeri living in Great Britain and willing to go to war …Yes of course…it seems that he is a great armchair warrior sitting in England. What I do not understand is why they do not read history other than their own fabrications. Is this inherent to Azeris and Turks alike? Turks also read nothing but their own history books manufactured by their leaders.
Javidan efendi..were you in Sumgait ? What happened there? Besides, let me remind you that it was not Armenians who ran away during the war but Azeris. Have you not been told that Azeris ran away when few donkeys loaded with strong projectors were unleashed toward your positions and you thought they were tanks and all of you quit your positions.
How about when an Armenian helicopter poured a white powder over your positions and your soldiers ran away because it was "poisonous gas"…well…it was not gas but bleached flour…you know…they make delicious Armenian bread with them.
There is a Turkish saying , I hope it is close enough to Azeri language
"bos lafla peynir gemisi yurumez"
Two Fabrications
To Javidan
"Garapagh aliminizenden gette!!!" can be translated as "Karabagh went through our hands." Many knowledgeable Azeris realize this and repeat it.
Next time be prepared not to lose Shahumian back to us…Nakhichevan and then perhaps come close to Kantsag–Genjah as you have transformed the name…and a few other such venues. Lenkoran will be taken by Persian Lenkoranis in addition to other small areas up north, such as Dagestan.
