Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. John–92 Terrace Hill Street, Brantford ON–will unveil a plaque, on Friday, August 22 at 11 a.m., commemorating the 100th anniversary of the First World War internments in Canada. Most of the internees were Ukrainian; some were Armenians and Alevis. Father Bohdan Mironovich, the priest at the church, will conduct a religious service.

Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. John–92 Terrace Hill Street, Brantford ON–will unveil a plaque, on Friday, August 22 at 11 a.m., commemorating the 100th anniversary of the First World War internments in Canada. Most of the internees were Ukrainian; some were Armenians and Alevis. Father Bohdan Mironovich, the priest at the church, will conduct a religious service.

Following the ceremony, there will be a reception with coffee and cakes in the church hall. Author Marsha Skrypuch of Brantford, who has been a staunch supporter of the Armenian-Alevi campaign against the misleading Turkish monument, will deliver a short talk on the WWI Internment operations, and then will sign her recent novel "Dance of the Banished".

We believe Armenians should attend the unveiling and thus support the truth about the WWI internments. In doing so we expose and condemn the phony plaque at the Brantford Mount Hope Cemetery which is Turkish government propaganda.

Cars will be provided to people who would like to join us but have transportation problems. Pick up will be at the parking lot of McDonald's at Parkway Mall, Victoria Park and Ellesmere, between 8:15. and 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 22. Contact [email protected] for reservation.
