Mamoulian’s Trademark

While director Alfred Hitchcock is well known for his cameo appearances in his movies, less well known is director Rouben Mamoulian’s trademark cat: cats appear as trade-mark in all Mamoulian’s films. The Tiflis-born Armenian director was the creator for the stage of the first production of Porgy and Bess, Oklahoma! and Carousel. He did Porgy and Bess not as a musical and had an all-black cast.
