To get the support of the Armenians, Napoleon offered to establish a free Armenia after the collapse of the oppressive Ottoman Empire. But a bubonic plague forced Napoleon to withdraw from Palestine to Egypt. Shortly after, he left for France, harassed by the British Navy.
