Priest Zakaria Shehriman

One of the most celebrated Armenian priests in 18th century Venice was Zakaria Shehriman (Shehrimanian) who descended from a famous Julfa family of the same name. The family, famed as international merchants, had moved to the city in 1700.  Shehriman was one of the sharpest observers of Venetian society. Poetess Victoria Aghanur, of Armenian birth, was born in Venice. A perceptive observer of Venetians, she was a leading Venetian poet in the 19th century.
