Shahnameh

Khosrow II, Parvez (“Victorious”), the 6th century king of Persia, loved Shirin, a beautiful Armenian girl. The famous Persian epic “Shahnameh" (“Book of Kings”) by Ferdawsi (10th century) is about their love. Because of his devotion to Shirin, Khosrow declared:” All Christians under my rule shall accept the [monophysite] faith of the Armenians.”
