In recent years Armenia and Georgia have faced the choice of two integration projects: EU Association Agreement and Russian-led Customs Union. Researcher Antranig Bedrossian (Masters in International Relations) of Montreal will explore the interests of the various parties involved within the context of globalized capitalist social relations. The speech will also tackle the ideological basis of these projects, based on the analysis of official documents. Mr. Bedrossian will argue that South Caucasus is becoming the 'border' between the EU and the Russian-led integration project.

Author of numerous articles on Armenian and international issues, Mr. Bedrossian has delivered talks at conferences in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Yerevan, and Stepanagerd. His recent lectures at the International Political Studies Department of Institute of History of the Armenian Academy of Sciences (Yerevan) include 'Theories of International Relations', 'EU Association Agreements and Eurasian Customs' Union', and the 'Ukraine Civil War'.  President and co-founder of ‘Nakhijevan’ Institute of Canada, Mr. Bedrossian directs series of publications on Armenian and international issues.

  1. South Caucasus. a zone of division or cooperation

To the author of this article I would like to say that the issue has already come up  several times, when experts from Armenia and Azerbaijan along with the  the three presidents   of the Minsk Group held special meetings mandated by Geneva Centre  fort Security Policies – GSCP  still in function  –  and the UN.

In fact I personally told the American co-president  – – this was right after the NK conflict was  declared a frozen conflict in spite of all the negotiations post the  cease fire of 1991 – –  that the solution to overcome  conflict and  war mindsets  was to make of South Caucasus a zone of mutual development, cooperation and expanded trade bringing wealth and well being to all populations. A win win scenario rather than persisting   territorial and other claims .

It's a pity that the National Congress of Western Armenians has not followed  – and is not-  following – UN and  its affiliated organs' commitments and actions on Armenia and NK issues.
