We continue with Part III of Karekin Dickran’s correspondence as the polymath imparts his wide-ranging knowledge of the Armenian language, Armenian religion, and civilization. (5 December 2024)
Dear Jirair,
Reclaiming truth: Artsakh used to be called Aryana. Atached you will find illustration of É8-ian Agni [Achke] [8=infinity].
It was in the first century that Christianity began the process taking shape in Armenia, Mesopotamia, Palestine, Egypt, Rome and other places and many manuscripts were written during this early period. One of the first founders of the movement was Marcion, a rich Christian from Pontus. He was the son of a bishop. He arrived in Rome circa 140, soon after Bar Kokhba’s revolt. Marcionism was based upon ancient Ast.vads-Chasdvads duality belief system that originated in the teachings of Marcion of Sinope. The locale was Rome and the year around 144 CE (115 years and 6 months from the Crucifixion, according to Tertullian’s reckoning in Adversus Marcionem, xv). The dominating faith of Marcionites was based upon ancient Armenide Aryan dualistic principles having the Cross and right armed Swastikas as their divine symbols. Marcionites rejected Judaism and the Old Testament but accepted Jesus as Messiah and son of God in the manner that Christ himself declared. To the early Church, the source of the most persistent persecution of Christians was Judaism, and they understood that the Old Testament’s theology of wrath was different from the New Testament’s theology of love and salvation.
According to Marcion, the Catholic Church had not in hand any litera scripta Novi Testamenti and Marcionism shows the influence of Hellenistic philosophy on Christianity, and presents a moral critique of the Old Testament from the standpoint of Platonism. We should have in mind too that the four Gospels were first written later, and the first Gospel was written 60 A.D. when all of the apostles were already dead. Adolf Harnack states: “The [Marcion] sect may have led other Christians to introduce a formal statement of beliefs into their liturgy and to formulate a canon of authoritative Scripture of their own, thus eventually producing the current canon of the New Testament.”
Marcionites grew to rival that of the Church of Rome. For this reason, they were considered by the Roman Catholic Church as the most dangerous foe that Christianity has ever encountered. Marcionism continued in the West for 300 years, although Marcionistic ideas persisted much longer. Marcionites dissolved in Manichaenism whose founder was Mani from Bartev Arshaguniants dynasty Manichaeism (in Persian Aeeneh Mani) was one of the major ancient religions of Iranian origin having its roots in the initial Armenian concept of É and Ast. [É8ioun, É.ag.an] 15,000 BC. At 242 AD his teachings was based upon ancient Aryan doctrines whose elements are found in Buddhism and Christianity. Manu himself was persecuted and crucified on 276 AD but his teachings spread in the Middle East, Western Asia, India, China, Asia Minor, Europe and in Armenia. The founder’s name Mani is mentioned in Armenian pagan documents as the 16th day of the month and is closely connected to Ar.Mana [Armenia]. [Armenians named not only the months, but weeks, days and even 24 hour of the day] Mana or Mart in Armenian is Man. Ar.Men or Ar.Man, [Ma, Me=born of] Ari.Mart meaning Courageous-Man, Aryan Man a Child of Light.
I have to research these four male names: Dir-ayr (Master-man), Norayr (New-man), Jirayr (Energetic-man), and Hrayr (Fiery-man.)
P.S: – É [Seventh letter of Armenian alphabet] you find upon the grave of former Catholicos, His Holiness Vasken I Baljian (1955-1994] and at the entrance to Armenian churches or above church altars.

Karekin,
There’s a difference between Aryan and Arian.
The latter was an early Christian religious cult. The former is a race, including Armenians.
According to current anthropology, Aryans split into two major groups–one heading west to Europe, the other east to India and thus Aryans came to be known as Indo-Europeans. I believe Armenians stayed put in the Aryan homeland of South Caucasus. That’s why some historians and authors consider Armenia “the Cradle of Civilization.”

Dear Jirair,
I don¹t understand this “arian” obsession either, although I agree that this is a legitimate PRE-CHRISTIAN identity matter for ARMENIANS.
