The Life And Times of (Mostly) Armenian Words

Jirair Tutunjian, editor of Keghart.com, delivered his second annual talk on Armenian etymology at the AGBU Alex Manoogian Cultural Centre on Nov. 9, 2012.

The two-hour talk included the fascinating stories of 40 Armenian words, about Armenian words derived from Arabic, Assyrian, Greek, Hebrew, Persian, and Turkish, etymology as a political tool, and 40 pairs of Armenian and English words which are similar. In an additional "sidebar" Mr. Tutunjian talked about the mysterious origins of the Armenian alphabet.
