Mihal Eminescu

Mihal Eminescu or Michael Emin (1850-1889) was a poet, journalist and classicist in Romanian and Moldavian literature. He was born in Botosani, Romania, where his father had moved from Grigoriopol, a Moldavian town founded by Armenian immigrants. One of the objects of his work was to resolve the conflict between romanticism and pragmatism. His poems and novels are regarded as exemplary in the national language.
